Abstract:
Gallium is one of the important rare metals, widely used in semiconductor materials, optoelectronics, radio technology and other fields. With the continuous progress and development of science and technology, the market demand of gallium metal is also increasing. Up to now, 90% of the primary gallium comes from aluminum smelting, while the recovery of gallium from zinc smelting accounts for less than 10%. In view of the low percentage of gallium recovery from zinc smelting, the development and application of gallium recovery technology in the existing zinc smelting process are summarized. This paper compares and analyzes the gallium recovery technology from the pyrometallurgy process and the hydrometallurgy process in zinc smelting, with the gallium-containing zinc concentrate as the raw material, and it can be seen from the actual recovery process that the existing recovery technology generally has the technical problems of long process flow, low gallium recovery rate and poor economy, which become the biggest problem of gallium recovery from zinc smelting. Finally, it is believed that with the continuous improvement of science and technology, extraction separation, emulsion membrane and resin adsorption technologies are expected to be the key technologies for efficient and green short process in zinc smelting.
