Abstract

Abstract

The Al₂O₃/20%Al₂O₃(nm) + 20%ZrO₂ + 60% Al₂O₃(μm)/Al₂O₃ laminated ceramic composites were fabricated by high-shear two-roll milling process. Its mechanical properties were measured and compared with Al₂O₃ and ZrO₂ + Al₂O₃ non-laminated ceram-ics. The results showed that the toughness is great improved by means of laminated composite.The microcracks and tolerant of main crack propagation are the reasons to improved the toughness of laminated ceramic composites.
